INVITATION TO THE 3rd MALAWI INVESTMENT FORUM 2018
The Malawi Trade and Investment Centre (MITC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism are pleased to announce the 3rd Malawi Investment Forum scheduled to be held on 11th and 12th June 2018 at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BCCI) in Lilongwe. The Forum will be held under the theme Private Sector-Led Growth: Key to Malawi’s Sustainable Development. The theme builds on the success of MIF 2015 and MIF 2016 and focused on presentation and discussion of both public and private projects that Malawi is offering and on singing of trade and investment deals. His Excellency the State President of Malawi, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will officially inaugurate and preside over the Forum.
The forum is focused on three key result areas, namely:
- Sustainable private sector investment
- Increased exports of Malawi products
- Job creation
The main components are as follows:
- Opening session by the State President of the Republic of Malawi
- Breakaway sessions on all five sectors focusing on some policy and administrative-related discussions on the business environments respective to the five sectors and that will more importantly announce sector specific projects that area available or that are in the process of being packaged for private sector uptake (project areas will be uploaded on www.mf.mw).
- A focused 5 hour of B2B and G2B meetings
- The Trade Exhibition covering 80 local and foreign exhibitors
- A Financiers Networking Symposium comprising both local and foreign financiers
- Cultural dances and exposition
- Signing of Memorandum of Understanding for successful trade and investment deals.

Malawi is a stable and safe country and was listed as number two safest countries in Africa after Botswana, on the world peace index in 2009. Government has put in place a number of measures aimed at promoting investment. Malawi is also a member of the Common market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) which offers a huge market for any prospective investor. |
