One of the many important roles of any diplomatic mission is ‘to protect the interests of its own nationals in the receiving State, within the limits permitted by international law’. As such, the High Commission of Malawi in India offers their services to Malawians who are in India temporarily, whether for tourism, business, education or any other reason.
Email Advisories: One such service that the High Commission may provide is email advisories to Malawians in India on any issue that may affect them such as (but not limited to) security, medical,
and elections at home advisories, etc. To accomplish this, we request Malawians in India to register with the High Commission.
Please Register: In order for us to serve you better, we need to know the
following: your name and address in Malawi; details of emergency contact person in Malawi; arrival and departure dates in/from India;
purpose of visit in India; your sponsoring agency or organization and their contact details; your contact details in India; and anything else that you think we should know, for instance medical challenges. You can
register online by filling in and submitting the form below or you can
download a form and drop it off at the mission, or mail/fax it.
Please De-Register once you leave India: It would be helpful to the Consular Section at the High Commission if you de-registered once you leave India for good. There is no need to de-register if you are only leaving India for a short time and plan to return. To de-register, simply send an email under the subject line: DE-REGISTER ME, and write your full name in the text. The email address is
. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Regarding Arrest: If you are arrested or detained in India, you should clearly inform the arresting authorities that you wish to have the High Commission of Malawi in New Delhi notified immediately about your arrest. The arresting authorities have an obligation, under the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, to advise you of your rights of access to a consular representative and to make arrangements for such access. They are not required to inform the High Commission of your detention or arrest unless you specifically ask them to do so. With this in mind, we advise you to carry the address and contact details of the High Commission in your wallet.
